I’ve wanted to open this for a while, but it seems fitting to open it to call in the New Year, day five of 2023, how are we all getting on! New Chapter ‘Gruener’ and this is the 2021 vintage, from Niederosterreich in Austria and a creation of Markus and Michael Huber. Do you already love a Grüner Veltliner? I know I do, perhaps because of someone passing their own passion for this grape on many moons ago. Funnily enough, the same person who introduced me to Gewürztraminer. Anyway… this bottle is pretty special, there’s a big old story behind Markus and Lens but I’ll save that for another time. For now, just a few notes on this wine… I opened it to pair with a goats cheese risotto and I was blown away by the savoury notes on the nose and I thought ‘I am about to create an absolutely delicious pairing if I say so myself ‘ 😉 It’s just so grippy, like a dehydrated athlete with salt left on their skin, and a great taste in moisturiser.
